Family-Friendly Outings Your Kids Will Love (And Not Expect)
You might always do similar things on the weekend, and that’s fun for everyone, but what if you change things up now and then? Why not give them a fun, unexpected outing that they’ll love? It will be great to see the little one’s surprised face, and you’ll likely overhear them telling their friends later what a time they had and talking so excitedly. It’s well worth planning for that positive outcome, so let’s get to it!
Chessington World of Adventures Resort
There are sea animals, a zoo, and more than 30 rides and attractions in one place, including the World of Jumanji! Where? At the Chessington World of Adventures Resort. It is bound to be a busy and exciting day for them, so make sure they get to bed early the night before.
If you surprise them on the car ride there, they’ll be all the more excited as you get close and they see the Tiger Rock log ride. They will likely want to see the animals, too. We like that the car park is free, as that makes it easy to get to starting your fun day without the stress of trying to find somewhere to put the car. This is one of Chessington’s top tourist spots, and it’s lots of fun for local families too!
Stonehenge for Families
This fantastic structure dates back to prehistoric times and there’s much to learn from it about ceremonial practices during the Bronze Age, as well as lots more. The part that your kids will not be able to believe (even though it’s true!) is that no one knows how it was built. You’ll also want to tell them that it is even older than the pyramids. Stonehenge dates back at least 500 years before the building of the first pyramid.
If you’re not sure that Stonehenge is a place for kids, rest assured that there are child-friendly activities at the site. There are audio-visual presentations to take in and tactile things for them to interact with. With plenty of parking and paths that buggies can easily go on, the attraction is designed with families in mind.
The trip to Wiltshire together in the car can be fantastic too as you sing the young one’s favourite songs. Maybe after Stonehenge you all travel to Bath, which is an hour away, for dinner. As they fall asleep in the backseat on the way home, you think about what a fantastic day this has been, and where to go next time.
Greenery and Peace at Riverside Gardens
In Ilkley is Riverside Gardens, a place to take your partner and kids to relax and unwind after a busy week. They’ve had a lot going on at school and your job has been stressful lately, so it’s nice to take a blanket, some food, and get in the car to go unwind at the park. Riverside Gardens has takeaway fish and chips if you didn’t pack any food. Be sure to pack their toys, though, to keep them busy in their car. The toys will also come in handy when they want to play at the park.
Run around on the grass after the little ones and remember how getting away from technology is helping all of you connect and rest more. This special time together is one that they will think about when they’re back in school and tell their friends about. This outing might even become a new family favourite and be one that you regularly do on the weekends. And you’ll be glad that you took time away from the desk and computer to focus on what’s most important: Loved ones.
See a Broadway Show
This weekend will be a trip that they don’t see coming! You’ll go see the Lion King live, and it will be spectacular for all of you. Get the lion king broadway tickets now so that it’s not sold out before you get the chance. This family-friendly show is based on the famous cartoon movie, and this new live show is getting a lot of great feedback for the performances, music, and great costumes. There’s a lot to look at up on the stage, keeping your children amused for the evening. It’s a best-seller they will be so excited to see, and you can provide this magical experience for them. Way to go, mum and dad!
After the show, see what souvenirs they want to remember the special event. Then, head back to the hotel to unwind. Get them a warm drink before you put them to bed. Everyone will have great dreams after such an eventful time.
The next day, ask them what they liked most about the show as a way to keep the fun times going. Plus, you’ll be testing their memories when you ask specific questions about the show, such as the names of some of the characters. Yes, it can be an educational time too.
Creating Experiences They Remember
The early years are ones when the children are learning a lot, and you can help them learn how important family time is. Taking them to a Broadway show and doing other exciting things are going to help them put high value in family time as they’ve had so much fun doing it. One day when they have kids of their own, they will pass on these traditions, taking their own little ones out to have fun together on weekends.
Rather than buying material things, you are creating experiences they remember. It’s the special times that matter, not how much money an electronic device costs. Plus, the times out together are ones they are more likely to remember long after they’ve put down that electronic item. The experiences last longer and are ones that make a positive difference, bringing you and the kids closer together.
Cheers to positive family experience ahead, having loads of fun together, and creating moments that all remember for many years! THIS is the stuff that counts the most.
