Join us as a CloudOps Intern this summer, and you will learn so much from some fantastic people. You will be solving real-world problems and get raw insight into the ins and outs of working in the commercial world.
The quality of training you receive is something we work hard at and something we are very proud of. We respect the value of investing in our internship programmes, and many of our engineers today were once StarLeaf interns.
Does this sound like you?
Curious in nature, always looking to dig a little deeper into problems, and not scared of asking questions.
You love learning new things and have always had an innate ability to pick things up quickly.
You have a strong interest in tech. This interest may have grown during your studies but may have been born long before. You like tinkering with things; if things break, you fix them, but you want to understand why they broke in the first place!
What you can expect
You will be a part of our six-person CloudOps team.
We will give you projects that align with your skills and interests. Projects will be technical in nature, and you can expect to work with a set of technologies like Python, SaltStack, Icinga2, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Docker, Linux.
You will gain broad experience during your time with us. Work experience will be directly applicable to future careers across cloud operations, system administration, DevOps or SRE.
This internship is paid and paid well.
The CloudOps Team
The CloudOps team are responsible for managing and maintaining the StarLeaf cloud service. This ranges from rolling out new releases to handling any service problems. How we plan for and respond to problems directly affects end-users, so we make extensive use of monitoring to detect issues as early as possible.
We interact with almost every part of the StarLeaf service so we have a good view of the system, including the hardware supporting it. StarLeaf is operated out of fourteen data centres across nine different countries, which we also provision and continue to work with.
What we are looking for
- You are studying a STEM subject at a top university
- Good A-level results
- Some knowledge of some or all of the following: Linux, Python, SQL databases and some understanding of containerisation (e.g. Docker), virtualisation (e.g. VMware)
The way we are working
We are all working remotely right now but will slowly transition to a hybrid model over the next few months.
We hope by the time this internship begins, we will be working from the office two or three days a week, and we would like you to be there with us for the best experience possible.
We are only hiring one intern to join this team, so if this opportunity is of interest to you, apply now, and you will hear back from us very soon.
